This article is regarding the new Istanbul International Airport. Also known as Istanbul Havalimani Airport. It is located on the European side of the Turkish capital, close to the Black Sea.
As a fairly new airport (opened in 2018), it is set up efficiently. The entire airport is featured in one big terminal building. Everything is within walking distance. The gates are divided between concourses A till G.

The closest smoking areas to the A-gates would be the terraces next to Gourmet Trilogy and Tickerdaze. To go here, you first have to go to the central shopping plaza. This requires an escalator or elevator ride from the A-gates departure pier. After that, turn right towards the smoking terraces
Istanbul International Airport smoking areas close to B-gates
The closes smoking areas to the B-gates are similar to the A-gates. Check the above map and information to find the smoking area closest to your gate.
Istanbul International Airport smoking areas close to C-gates
If you are looking for a smoking area close to the C-gates, go to gate C1. There is a smoking terrace next to it. It is across the Duty Free Store or next to the IGA Sleepod.
Unlike most concourses, the C-gates are at the same level and in close proximity to the shopping plaza. This way, you don’t have to climb stairs to reach the gates.

There is a smoking area between gates D16 and D14, at the end of the D-pier. It is on the right side. Across from the exchange office and Simit Sarayi restaurant.

Traveling from the E-gates? There is a smoking area close by! Go and look for gate E1. You will find a smoking terrace next to this gate.

Want to smoke and are close to the F-gates? Go to the smoking terrace between gates F9 and F13. It is located at the right side of the pier. It is almost at the end of the pier.

The G-gates at Istanbul International Airport are mostly used for domestic flights. Luckily, there is also a smoking area over here.
